Miniature circular silvered medal with claw and swivel ribbon bar suspension; the face with the crowned head of King George V in admiral’s uniform facing left, circumscribed ‘GEORGIUS V BRITT: OMN REX ET IND: IMP:’ (George V King of Great Britain Emperor of India); the reverse inscribed ‘’FOR / CONSPICUOUS / GALLANTRY’ within a laurel wreath, a crown above; diameter 18.24mm (0.71 inch); on replaced correct ribbon.
The Medal was instituted in 1855 to be awarded to Petty Officers and Seamen of the Royal Navy and Non-Commissioned Officers and other ranks of the Royal Marines for gallantry.
