Miniature circular cupro-nickel medal with scroll and ribbon suspension bar with an Arabic inscription and a star and crescent centrally; the face with crossed sheathed jambiyas pointing downwards centrally, circumscribed ‘ARABIAN SERVICE 1839-1967, all within a border of Arabic-inspired arches; the reverse with a stylised lateen-rigged dhow under full sail, travelling right to left, inscribed ‘ARABIAN’ and ‘SERVICE’ above and below respectively, dated ‘1839-1967’ to the right; diameter 18.34mm (0.72 inch); on original ribbon.
The Medal was created by the Aden Veterans Association to commemorate British forces who served in South Arabia from 1839 until the withdrawal in 1967.
The Aden Veterans Association is a tri-service organisation founded on the 25th March 2000 to maintain the memory of those who gave their lives for the cause of peace in Aden and the Protectorate and to promote and maintain comradeship amongst the members.
