Miniature white enamel and silvered metal cross pattée, the arms with silver-edged black enamel borders, with crossed silvered swords between the arms and with scroll and eyelet for ribbon suspension; the face with a circular silvered medallion imposed centrally bearing the crowned Prussian eagle within a gilt-edged black enamel ring inscribed in gilt letters ‘PREUSS. TAPFER. KRIEG.’ (Prussia’s Brave Warriors), stylised gilt laurel leaves at the base; the reverse plain; diameter 15.04mm (0.6 inch); on replaced correct ribbon.
The Cross was established after the end of World War I by the Vereinigung Preußischer Kriegsteilnehmer im Deutschen Kriegerbund, a benevolent organisation for former Prussian combatants, to be awarded for outstanding service to the Union.
