Circular bronze medal with eyelet for ribbon suspension; the face with the full-length figure of a soldier in loincloth, a sword in his raised right hand, broken chains in his left hand, a radiant medallion to the left with the head of the soldier, poet and politician General Rudolf Maister (1874-1934) after the Slovenian sculptor and medallist Anton Sever (1886-1965), dated ‘1918/19’ below; the reverse inscribed with the words of the poet Miha Klinar (1922-1983) ‘CE V ONEM CASU NE BILO BI NAS SE VECJI KOS SLOVENSKE ZEMLJE BI ODTRGAL TUJI PLAZ’ (If we had not been there at that time, an even larger piece of Slovenian land would have been torn away by a foreign avalanche), with maker’s mark of Stanislav Jerasa of Ljubljana below; on original ribbon mounted for wear.

The Medal was designed by the academic sculptor Tone Lagonder based on an idea of Janko Kustra and produced by the workshop of Stanislav Jerasa in Ljubljana on the 60th anniversary of the battles on the northern Slovenian border in Carinthia where Slovenian volunteers fought under the leadership of General Rudolf Maister against the forces of Austria.
