Circular bronze-gilt medal with eyelet for ribbon suspension; the face with hands holding a submachine gun, Mount Triglav, highest peak in Slovenia, beyond. A five-pointed star above, laurel leaves to either side, dated ‘1944’ lower left and ‘1984’ lower right; the reverse plain; on original ribbon on pentagonal hanger and with a five-pointed red enamelled star device.

Skofja Loka was occupied by Italian forces on 13 April 1941 and these were replaced by German troops on 17 April.  The first citizens of the town were arrested by the Gestapo on 6 May 1941 and in the following weeks 26 families were deported to Serbia.  Partisan units were active in the area throughout the war.  The Partisans entered the town on 9 May 1945.
