Miniature circular gilt medal with eyelet for ribbon suspension; the face with three circular medallions, the upper left bearing a portrait of Emperor Napoleon III, the upper right that of the Empress Eugenie and the lower that of Napoleon Eugène, the Prince Imperial, a radiant ‘N’ above, laurel branches below; the reverse inscribed ‘SOUVENIR DE MA VISITE A L’EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE DE 1867’ (Souvenir of my visit to the Universal Exhibition of 1867), circumscribed ‘S. A. LE PRINCE IMPÉRIAL PRESIDENT’; diameter 21.54mm (0.85 inch); without ribbon; The Exhibition was held in Paris from 1 April to 3 November and more than 11 million visitors saw the displays of 52,000 exhibitors from 41 countries.
