Silvered bronze  cross bottony with eyelet for ribbon suspension; the face with a circular central medallion bearing the inter-twined initials of King Wilhelm II and Queen Charlotte of Wurttemberg; the reverse with a circular central medallion bearing the date ‘1916’; on replaced correct ribbon.

The Cross was instituted by King Wilhelm II on 5 January 1916 in honour of Queen Charlotte (born Princess of Schaumburg-Lippe) to recognise those who tended the sick and wounded, both at the front and at home.

It was struck at the Wurttemberg Royal Mint, Stuttgart.
