Silvered metal stamped badge of laurel and oak wreath form; the face with the letters ‘L·U·S’ (Latvijas Ugunsdzeseju Savienibas = Union of Latvian Firemen) bearing a fireman’s helmet and axes centrally, the lesser arms of Latvia above, an escutcheon below bearing the numerals ‘70’; the reverse plain with pin for wear; height 47mm (1.85 inches).
The Union of Latvian Firemen was founded in 1921; this rare badge dates from 1991.
