Circular light alloy medal with eyelet and loop for suspension; the face with a mountainous wooded landscape, a road with a large 1920s open motor car with a chauffeur and two passengers in the foreground, all within a beaded border; the reverse with the figure of Saint Christopher fording a river carrying the Christ child, a scrolled panel below inscribed ‘SAINT CHRISTOPHER / PROTECT US’, all within a beaded border; diameter 21.98mm (0.86 inch). Medals such as this were often inset in, or hung from, early dashboards to afford safe passage to motorists.
