Circular bronze medal with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with an Estonian soldier holding his rifle across his body, a cornfield, a mother and children before a cottage and a village and factory beyond in the background, inscribed ‘KODU KAITSEKS’ (Home Guard); the reverse with crossed swords imposed on a laurel branch, the dates ‘1918-1920’ above, a ribbon below inscribed ‘EESTI WABADUSSÕjA MALETUSEKS’ (In Commemoration of Estonian Liberation), signed ‘Timus’; age-toned; on replaced correct trifold ribbon.
The Medal was instituted on 14 December 1920 to be awarded to participants in the Estonian War of Liberation.
It was designed by the artist A. Timus and produced initially by Huguenin Frères of Le Locle, Switzerland and later in Estonia by Tavast and by Timus.
The medal is now hard to find.
