Circular bronze medal with eyelet for ribbon suspension; the face with a three-quarter length nude male figure carrying a standard in his left hand, inscribed ‘VI ET MENTE’ (Strength and Mind) to the right, maker’s mark ‘SJ’ lower left for Stefano Johnson of Milan, all within a cog wheel border; the reverse with a rectangular scrolled plaque, oak and laurel leaves above and below, inscribed above ‘TOURING CLUB ITALIANO’; on a recent ribbon in the Italian national colours.
The Touring Club Italiano was founded on 8 November 1894 and promotes travel and tourism. This medal probably dates from the early 20th Century.
