Miniature circular bronze medal with integral oak wreath suspension; the face with a full-length female figure facing forwards, two seated figures beyond to either side; the reverse with a circular laurel wreath, circumscribed ‘ORPHELINAT GENERAL DE FRANCE’; diameter 13.48mm (0.53 inch);on original ribbon. The Orphelinat General de France was founded by A. Ternois (1881-1928) after the Great War to care for the greatly increased number of orphans.
