Circular gilt bronze medal with laterally pierced ball suspension; the face with a broken anvil imposed on a map of France, the letters ‘R’ and ‘F’ to either side (for République Française), a radiant Cross of Lorraine above, the inscription ‘J’AI LIVRE UN BON COMBAT (I fought a good fight) below; the reverse circumscribed ‘AUX REFRACTAIRES – GUERRE 1939-1945’ (To the Resisters, War of 1939-1945), with Paris Mint cornucopia bronze assay marks; on original ribbon.

The Medal was instituted on 21 October 1963 to honour those French citizens who were conscripted by the Service du Travail Obligatoire (Compulsory Labour Service) and forced to work in Germany.

One of the rarer French Resistance medals.
