Silvered bronze stamped badge of laurel and oak wreath form; the face with an eight-pointed rayed star imposed centrally bearing a fireman’s helmet and axes on a rayed background, the lesser arms of Latvia above, a ribbon below inscribed ‘PAR CITIBU’ (for Zeal) and ‘L·U·S’ (Latvijas Ugunsdzeseju Savienibas = Union of Latvian Firemen); the reverse plain with post for brass screwback with maker’s name ‘E. EHRST RIGA’ for Emil Rudolf Ehrst; height 55.34mm (2.18 inches).

The Union of Latvian Firemen was founded in 1921; this rare badge dates from the 1930s.
