Miniature circular nickel silver (Neusilber) medal with eyelet for ribbon suspension; the face with the Wurttemberg royal crown centrally within a circular laurel wreath; the reverse inscribed in Gothic script ‘Für / treue Dienste / bei der Fahne’ (for Loyal Service under the Colours), the Roman numerals ‘IX’ (= 9) below within a circular oak wreath; diameter 16.31mm (0.64 inch); on correct possibly original ribbon. The medal was instituted by King Wilhelm II on 19 July 1913 by amendment to the award created on 16 March 1874 and was intended to recognise the completion of 9 years’ exemplary service in the Württemberg army. It was superseded in 1917 by a medal in blackened iron.
